What’s the best thing to do in your City? Spend the day like a tourist in Chicago

Daily writing prompt
Which is the best thing to do in your city?

The best thing to do is not hard, much of spending the day like a tourist would include dining out. From Shake Shack to Portillo’s, or Lou Malnati’s to Giordano’s; there are many places to dine out on the perfect day near Navy Pier.

There’s much to see in Chicago, from the museums to the parks, a day can be spent treasuring the architecture and spaces that make Chicago a city to tour. If I were painting the perfect day for a Chicagoan, it would include the Museums for sure and ending the night with a boat cruise at Navy Pier. It’d be an expensive day, but saving $7 per week for the year would allow you the luxury of a tourist weekend every Spring or Summer and could include a hotel stay.

The day would also include breakfast in Hyde Park followed by a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry. I’d take the bus from the museum into downtown and get off at Millennium Park to see the bean and Buckingham fountain. I might spend a late lunch in the park, just lounging out and people watching.

Late afternoon/early evening, I would go to the Pier to take a recreational boat cruise and ride the ferris wheel. If you can fit all that in one day, you can most likely also fit a hotel room in the budget to stay downtown for the evening or opt for a dinner cruise.

The evening could carry on until late and include a visit to the House of Blues or dining out with dancing at The Hangge Uppe.

Living the day like a tourist in one’s own city is fun and in Chicago, there’s always something to do or a place to go.
